The Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences provides multiple specializations: literature, philosophy, human sciences, languages, archeology, etc. It supports research and community service, promotes openness policies between Arab and Western cultures, and its research center issues an electronic research journal.
Research Center
Description
The Center for Research & Studies in the Humanities at the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences at the Lebanese University was established by Decree No. 2883 issued on 16 December 1959.
The Center aims to:
- Establish a culture of scientific research in the faculty and provide principles of partnership and cooperation among researchers.
- Develop the process of publishing research and secure the necessary tools for this within the faculty.
- Promote openness to research institutions and supporters of scientific projects inside and outside Lebanon.
The following individuals have served as directors of the center:
- Dr. Wafaa Berry: 26 June 2016 – 7 November 2019
- Dr. Ghassan Mourad: 7 November 2019 – 2024
- Dr. Maggie Obeid: Since 2024
