The FFAA - Branch 1 excels in DNSC-26 competition

The Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture – Branch 1 made a distinguished showing in the organization and results of the Design Narratives Students’ Competition (DNSC-26), organized by Beirut Arab University, with the participation of thirty design projects by students from the BAU, LU, AUB and NDU.

The competition was held under the theme “The New Memories of the Forgotten", and aimed to rediscover collective memory, forgotten places, communities, and cultural elements, transforming them into innovative design projects that strengthen identity, belonging, and social cohesion, while highlighting the role of architecture and various design disciplines in addressing social, cultural, and humanitarian issues to bring about positive and sustainable change in society.

The competition included Hariri Foundation Award, which honored outstanding projects that revitalized public spaces, strengthened identity and a sense of belonging, and gave a voice to vulnerable groups, in addition to addressing forms of spatial marginalization through design approaches centered on people and the needs of society.

According to the results, students from the Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture — Branch 1 won two awards, as follows:

· Second Prize for the project “Traces That Refuse to Fade", created by students Fatima Al Harake, Rayan Abdallah, and Hussein Nasrallah, under the supervision of Dr. Jihad Gregory Mohsen.

· Second place in the Hariri Foundation Award and a Jury Special Mention for the project “The Uncounted", completed by students Fatima Sobh, Nour Zahwi, and Fatima Jawad, under the supervision of Dr. Ali Bazzi, in recognition of the project’s conceptual strength, significance, and impact.

The students were mentored by Dr. Rima Al Hasan, a faculty member and coordinator from the FFAA - Branch 1, while their work was supervised and monitored by Dr. Mostafa Ibrahim, Chair of the Department of Architecture, and Engineer Nawal Boudani, Branch Director.

These results underscore the academic and creative excellence of the Lebanese University’s students and their ability to develop innovative design visions that address issues of memory, heritage, identity, and society. They also reflect the importance of academic guidance and specialized supervision in transforming students’ ideas into impactful projects that are recognized in university competitions and events.
