The DSST obtains Réseau Figure certification for a period of five years
The Doctoral School of Science and Technology (DSST) has obtained Réseau Figure certification for a period of five years starting in November 2025.
For over a year and a half, with the support of the French Institute in Lebanon, DSST has welcomed experts from the Réseau Figure on several occasions, most recently last October, when the quality assurance team conducted its final evaluation.
The experts met with President Bassam Badran, Dean Kassem Hamza, members of the scientific council, directors of laboratories and research platforms, as well as a number of doctoral students, thesis supervisors, the administrative team, and representatives from the economic and social sectors.
Réseau Figure's evaluation was based on a set of criteria, the main ones being:
- The DSST's strategic vision: a clear strategy thanks to joint supervision agreements with prestigious European and international institutions
- High standards: students are selected according to rigorous criteria and thesis topics are characterized by a high level of professionalism
- Professionalism: the doctoral school's programs have clear educational objectives, rigorous curricula, and assessment methods that comply with European standards
- Institutional support: the DDST benefits from significant support from the university's president, particularly in terms of funding for research infrastructure
The Réseau Figure recommended that the DSST strengthen social and economic ties with the private sector and raise awareness of entrepreneurship among doctoral students.
The French institution emphasized that, despite the challenges, the DSST has demonstrated excellence and commitment to a solid strategic vision focused on development and sustainability.
