New LU scientific research presents a strategic framework for the development of neuro-rehabilitation

In a new achievement in the field of neuroscience and neurorehabilitation, researchers from the Laboratory of Motricity, Handicap and Rehabilitation (MOHAR) at the Faculty of Public Health have contributed to the development of a scientific framework and a new treatment strategy aimed at improving the therapeutic decision-making process for people with neurological diseases and injuries.

The study was published in the journal *NeuroRehabilitation – SAGE Journals* entitled: “Beyond the Diagnosis: An Integrated Perspective on Strategic Dosing in Neurologic Motor Rehabilitation. A Scoping Review and Collaborative Viewpoint”.

The study proposes a shift from traditional therapeutic approaches based primarily on pathological diagnosis to a more dynamic strategy centered on the patient’s functional response, neural plasticity, the stage of disease progression, and appropriate therapeutic dosage.

The researchers developed a clinical framework based on three key pillars: optimization of motor performance, maximization of available motor capabilities, and preservation of remaining functions, thereby allowing the intensity and dosage of the rehabilitation intervention to be tailored to the nature and progression of the neurological condition.

Dr. Ahmad Rifai Sarraj and Jihan Allaw from the Lebanese University participated in the research, in collaboration with Dr. Fadi Zein Al Abidine and Dr. Antonio Pinti from the University Polytechnic Hauts-De-France.

This work is part of the Lebanese University, the Faculty of Public Health, and MOHAR lab's contribution to advancing scientific research in the fields of brain and nervous system sciences and rehabilitation, and strengthening the link between neuroscience, scientific research, and clinical practice in order to develop more precise and patient-tailored rehabilitation strategies.
