Hands-On Presurgical Cleft Care Training at the Faculty of Dental Medicine
Under the agreement between the Faculty of Dental Medicine and the Global Smile Foundation (GSF), students in the General Oral Health, students in Dental Public Health, Pediatric Dentistry, and Orthodontics had the opportunity to attend surgical procedures with Prof. Usama Hamdan from GSF, gaining firsthand insight into the multidisciplinary management of children with cleft lip and palate.
In collaboration with Dr. Dany Daou, Coordinator of the LU Cleft Committee at the FDM, a dedicated hands-on training session in presurgical taping and nasal lifting was also conducted to equip residents with practical skills that will help them support the presurgical phase and deliver these services at LU clinics through the LU Cleft Committee.
