The Center for Research & Studies in Legal Informatics organizes a workshop on Applications of AI in Legal and Judicial Services
The Center for Research & Studies in Legal Informatics at the Lebanese University, in collaboration with the Arab Center for Legal & Judicial Research affiliated with the League of Arab States, organized a workshop on “Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Legal and Judicial Services,” under the patronage and in the presence of the Minister of Justice in the caretaker government, Judge Henry Khoury, with the participation of the Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ambassador Abdulrahman Al Saleh, and the President of the Lebanese University, Dr. Bassam Badran, as well as Lebanese and Arab officials, judicial figures, and human rights activists.
Following the opening remarks, the working sessions spanned two days and were divided into four themes addressing: the role of smart search engines and chatbots in the process of retrieving legal information and managing and analyzing diverse legal data; the impact of artificial intelligence on the legal professions; artificial intelligence and predictive justice; and the role of artificial intelligence in streamlining the work of judges.
The workshop saw significant interaction between participants and speakers and attracted dozens of participants from abroad via Zoom, reflecting the legal community’s interest in the services provided by artificial intelligence, the legal issues it raises, and the practical and strategic steps needed to accommodate its entry into the legal world.
In conclusion, the participants expressed their hope to Dr. Bilal Abdallah, Director of the Center for Legal Informatics, that he would continue organizing similar workshops at the intersection of technological development and law, thereby helping legal professionals navigate the digital transformation with confidence.
