The LU completes Phase 1 of training courses for its faculty members in AI
The Lebanese University completed the first round of training courses for its faculty members in the field of artificial intelligence and its applications in teaching and research, as well as the integration of appropriate and purposeful games into the learning process. This initiative is part of the project “Supporting the Integration of AI in Higher Education in the Middle East,” funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.
A total of 170 faculty members and researchers completed their training in the first round, divided into 10 groups from various faculties and institutes. The sessions were held at several locations, including Hadath, Fanar, Roumieh, Tripoli, and the Azm Center, as well as the Francophone Digital Center and the Francophone Employment Center in Tripoli. The ten training groups were led by a select group of lecturers from the Lebanese University, namely Drs. Majida Jalbout, Carole Bassil, Majd Saied, Hassan Shraim, Suha Katat, Eliane Youssef, Tamara Al-Bittar, Carine El Kassis, Mohamad Khalil, Amani Raad, and Abed Ellatif Samhat.
The project “Supporting the Integration of AI in Higher Education in the Middle East” aims to support higher education institutions in the region in adopting innovative teaching practices while promoting the responsible, ethical, and regulated use of artificial intelligence.
Thirteen universities from Lebanon, Egypt, and Palestine—including the Lebanese University—are participating in this project. These universities share a common vision focused on making AI a driver of creativity, improving quality of education, and advancing research and innovation, while paying special attention to ethical, human, and societal dimensions associated with its use.
