The FFAA - Branch 3 launches a tree-planting campaign in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture
The Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture – Branch 3, in collaboration with the North Lebanon Agriculture Service of the Ministry of Agriculture, launched a tree-planting campaign at the Mont Michel Campus in Tripoli, while WILCO Foundation donated more than 100 trees, including willows, carob trees, olive trees, and lemon trees.
The campaign, attended by a large crowd of professors, staff, and students, opened with a speech by the branch director, Dr. Issam Obeid, who noted that the tree-planting campaign is not merely an environmental activity but a test of professional and human conscience.
Dr. Obeid noted that Lebanon has lost more than 40 percent of its forest cover in recent years, and that the recent war in the south uprooted thousands of mature trees and burned olive groves that had stood as a testament to the resilience of the land and its people.
The Head of the Agriculture Department in the North, Engineer Sonia Al-Abed, emphasized the importance of collaborating with the Lebanese University on this initiative and encouraging students to engage in community environmental work.
