The UMC formed a health task force to assist displaced persons with the support of UNICEF and MoPH

In keeping with the Lebanese University’s commitment to its social role, particularly in light of the emergency conditions currently facing Lebanon, the University Medical Center (UMC) took the initiative to form a specialized health task force under the supervision of Dr. Elie Hadchiti, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, and with the participation of LU Task Force, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health and with support from UNICEF, to provide health care for displaced persons and meet their needs at reception centers, particularly at the Baabda Public School and Sibnaï Public School.

The health team provides primary healthcare services, medical consultations, and essential medications, including those for chronic conditions, in addition to managing emergency cases and referring them, when necessary, to specialized medical centers.

The team also focuses on promoting health awareness and disease prevention, as well as providing psychological and social support, thereby helping to mitigate the health impacts of the crisis.

This initiative is part of the Lebanese University’s commitment to its national and humanitarian role, and its ongoing and close cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health, with the aim of alleviating the suffering of displaced persons and strengthening the resilience of the health sector in the face of current challenges.
