13/10/2020 - The Lebanese University participates in the 3rd Innovation Week “IWA 2020” in Morocco and receives several prizes

 

The Lebanese University participated online in the 3rd Innovation Week (IWA 2020) organized by “OFEED Maroc” under the supervision of the International Federation of Inventors' Associations (IFIA) and in partnership with “The Patent” journal.

 

Participating through the “Lebanese Innovators Society” (LIS), Lebanon ranked first after winning 38 awards, including the Grand Prize, the Second Prize, the Distinguished International Achievement Award, several medals, and more than hundreds of “Master of Innovation” Certificates.

 

According to the results announced on 28 September 2020, the professors, students and alumni participating from the Lebanese University won the following prizes:

 

The second prize and a golden medal awarded to Dr. Akram Hejazi, Dr. Mohammad Al-Iskandarani, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Qattan, Dr. Mustafa Hamieh, Dr. Wasef Al-Khatib and the student Reem Nasr El-Din for the project entitled “Synthesis of new Poly-Urethane filters doped with active carbon based on banana stems to desalt sea water”.

 

A golden medal awarded to Dr. Mahmoud Al-Qattan, Abdel Halim Obaid, Nour Lattouf, and Ali Faraj for the project entitled “Robot for hospitals and universities disinfection facing corona virus”.

 

Three silver medals awarded to Dr. Akram Hejazi, Dr. Paul Nahas, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Qattan and Dr. Mohammad Kazem Medlej for the project entitled “New biocement from onion extract for dental application”, and Nabil Okail for the project entitled “Unattended Electronic Thermometer”, and Moussa Souwaidan for the project entitled “Robot Guard Protecting Kids and Elderly People to Face Corona Virus”.

 

The Grand Prize awarded to Imad Aji from outside the Lebanese University for his project “Ecoloo” which was also awarded a golden medal.

 

OFEED aims to strengthen strategic partnerships with universities and encourage innovation and invention to achieve sustainable development and change.
