The chess team at the Lebanese University won over its counterpart at Lviv State University of Physical Culture - Ukraine in the virtual contest held on 27 September 2020, under the leadership of the international referees Elie Khairallah and Oleksandr Prokhorov, and as a gesture of support and greetings to the university students of Lebanon and Beirut.
The Lviv University team included Yuri Krasingor, Lyubomir Volosersky, Vitaly Duzrak, Vasil Medvedich, Vladislav Klazkhov, Ivan Roschenets and Vera Siduryak.
The Lebanese National team included Abdallah Khalouf, Mohammad Hamad, Krikor Bazarbajian, Issa Wehbe, Ralph Khairallah, Michel Odaimi and Karen Chelalah.
Prior to the contest, Ihor Ostash, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Lebanon sent a message on social media, welcoming the teams and pointing out that the solidarity gesture confirms that Ukraine and Lebanon are together and support each other.
Dr. Mohammad Hosni Al-Hajj, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture, expressed in a video message his happiness in organizing this exceptional event in these difficult circumstances and indicated that the Lebanese University cooperates with several Ukrainian universities, hoping for a joint cooperation agreement to be signed soon for an academic exchange and various activities with Lviv University.
