The Lebanese University won the first three prizes of the “Arab student starpack 2020” competition organized online due to COVID-19 outbreak, by “Liban Pack” in cooperation with the “United Nations Industrial Development Organization” (UNIDO).
Three students from Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture (Branch 2, 3rd year - Advertising, Graphic & Visual Communication) won the 3 awards after working under the supervision of Professors Ghada Kreiker and Mary-anne Shinaihi. The results came as follows:
1st prize – Visual Packaging Category: Dima Fayad
2nd prize – Visual Packaging Category: Lara Chouchani
3rd prize – Structural Packaging Category: Mazen Asmar
The competition targets university students in the MENA region, and aims to ensure comprehensive and sustainable industrial development by engaging youth, launching and supporting their creativity, spreading awareness on the importance of packaging, and creating a real partnership between the packaging industry and the educational sector in Lebanon.
The Lebanese University previously won the second and third prizes of the competition last year, through two students from the Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture (Branch 2), namely Fatima Hassan Ali Ahmed and Rayan Salah Al-Ass.
It is noteworthy that this competition is approved by “World Packaging Organization” (WPO), and the winners are automatically eligible to participate in the WPO Competition, with an opportunity to pitch their projects at the international level.
