At the invitation of the National Authority for Scientific Research (ANCS) and under the patronage of Prime Minister Saad Hariri, the events of the “Science Competition 2019” were launched in the Lebanese University - Faculty of Science (Branch 1) at the Rafik Hariri University Compound - Hadath.

Mr. Radwan Shuaib, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ANCS welcomed the attendees, among which Colonel Bassam Farah, representing the Director General of Public Security, representatives of the sponsoring bodies (the Lebanese University, the Islamic University of Lebanon and Al Maaref University), ANCS partners in Beirut Municipality, IET representatives, Amhaz Educational Institutions, the Lebanese Union for Informatics & Communications, representatives of guidance and direction in the Ministry of Education & Higher Education, in addition to the judges from various universities and international judges from Canada, India, Egypt and Sudan, and a number of school and high school principals, professors and students.

Dr. Ahmed Shaalan, ANCS President, announced the opening of 16th edition of the competition, with the participation of nearly 600 creative and inventive students from 170 public and private schools from all over Lebanon, and indicated that the participants will obtain participation certificates and winners will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals, in addition to granting university scholarships and cash prizes worth ten million Lebanese pounds.
