11/4/2019 - The Lebanese University - Faculty of Public Health (Branch 1) organizes a conference on "Mental Health"

 

The Departments of Ergotherapy and Midwifery of the Lebanese University - Faculty of Public Health (Branch 1) organized a conference on mental health, under the high patronage of Mrs. Claudine Aoun Roukoz, and in the presence of MP Salim Khoury, Dean Nina Zeidan, Professor Samir Taha, Dr. Bassam El-Forn, Dr. Zeina Kattar, Dr. Sarkis Abi Tannous, Ms. Maliha Al-Sadr, in addition to a number of department heads, professors, employees and students.

 

The conference aimed to increase awareness on the importance of mental health and how to deal with daily pressures and to enhance students' knowledge about mental health.

 

The welcoming speech was given by Dr. Sarkis Abi Tannous, followed by Dr. Zeina Kattar who provided a scientific definition of health and its connection with psychological balance, according to local and international statistics.

 

After that, Professor Samir Taha gave a speech in which he stressed that mental health is everyone's responsibility and that, therefore, the goal of the university initiative is to open up to greater participation of citizens and actors involved in this field in order to promote scientific and professional interests and give people hope for recovery.

 

In her speech, Dean Nina Zeidan mentioned the issue of mental health, referring to the programs provided by the Ministry of Health and the training seminars organized by the Faculty on this subject, confirming the Faculty's interest in women's mental health in particular.

 

At the end of the opening session, Mrs. Claudine Aoun Roukouz delivered a speech in which she expressed her joy at the opening of this scientific day at the Lebanese University, stressing that a person's physical health is not complete without his mental health.
