The opening held in the Faculty of Engineering at the Rafik Hariri University Compound - Hadath, was attended by Dr. Mohammad Al-Hajjar, Dean of the Faculty of Technology, representing Professor Fouad Ayoub, President of the Lebanese University (LU), Dr. Rafik Younes, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Fawaz Al-Omr, Dean of the Doctoral School of Science & Technology, Dr. Ghaleb Faour, representing Mouïn Hamzé, Secretary General of the National Council for Scientific Research (NCSR), Professor Herve Sabourin, Regional Director of AUF, and a number of directors, professors, researchers and students.

Dr. Nazih Moubayed stressed the importance of such meetings in providing a great opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences for all participants who joined from 18 countries to discuss new ideas in the fields of engineering.

Dr. Clovis Francis, Director of the Research Center at the Faculty of Engineering, shed the light on the issue of updating the curricula in the Faculty, including the master's programs in the field of traffic engineering, civil engineering risks and petroleum engineering, establishing a scientific research center in the Faculty and involving it in projects funded by the European Union, and exchanging students and teaching staff with European host universities mainly in France, Italy and Spain.

Dr. Faour stressed the importance of the four scientific conferences, pointing to the importance of the current cooperation agreements between NCSR and the LU, which reflect the concepts of trust and real partnership that NCSR establishes with universities in Lebanon through its scientific programs.

Professor Herve Sabourin affirmed the AUF support for this scientific event, which will allow researchers from 18 countries around the world to share experiences, practices and results, and congratulated the LU and the Faculty of Engineering for this valuable initiative that serves science and research.

Dr. Al-Hajjar indicated that the conferences cover a broad spectrum of areas of interest to researchers in engineering and technology and address the latest topics in these fields. He hoped that such events would contribute to the development witnessed by the LU faculties, and provide the administration with proposals enhancing adaptation of specializations with the labor market.
