1/4/2019 - In cooperation with the Lebanese University, Al-Nour Association for Education organized a national conference on "School dropout"

 

With the participation of more than 400 academic figures, Al-Nour Association for Education launched a national conference to fight against the school dropout phenomenon. "School Dropout in Lebanon ... Prevention & Treatment" was held in partnership with the Lebanese University - Faculty of Pedagogy, and in cooperation with the French Institute, the Lebanese Institute of Educators at the Saint-Joseph University, ALEF - Act for Human Rights, the Association for the Development of Evaluation Methodologies in Education in Europe (ADMEE), and Al-Mayadeen Center.

 

The conference took place with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Burj Al-Barajneh Municipality, representatives of the Lebanese University, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Educational Center, the Saint-Joseph University, the Presidency of the Islamic University of Lebanon, and the General Secretariat of Catholic Schools in Lebanon, a group of French teachers in Lebanon, and the Directors of the UNESCO Palace and ADMEE, in the presence of ministries, governmental, educational and academic institutions, municipalities and educational personalities from various Lebanese regions.

 

The conference general coordinator, Ms. Rima Younes, stressed the role and importance of holding such conferences to raise the educational and cultural levels that affect the process of promoting education in Lebanon.

 

For his part, the representative of the Lebanese University, Professor Haysam Kotob, stressed the importance of this conference which stems from the fact that it poses one of the most serious problems facing the educational system.

 

Then, the Faculty Dean, Professor Therese Al-Hashem confirmed that school dropout is equivalent to the execution of education in Lebanon, stressing the importance of the faculty’s role in preparing teachers to fight against this dangerous phenomenon.

 

The President of Al-Nour Association for Education, Mr. Haysam Amhaz, stressed the need to provide education and learning for all, and to contribute with the public sector in developing educational strategies to advance our educational community, considering that the conclusion of this conference will only be the beginning of an educational journey through serious follow-ups to illuminate the paths of school dropouts in Lebanon.

 

The speech of the Minister of Culture, Muhammad Daoud, was delivered by his adviser, Ahmed Nazzal, who insisted on the prevention and treatment of this phenomenon and presented appropriate preventive suggestions.

 

Ms. Rima Younes, announced the appointment of a follow-up committee, noting that the research included in the conference will soon be published in a specialized scientific journal, and revealed that a school promotion plan for students with learning difficulties will be developed by launching a conference in this regard within next year.
