The press office of the Lebanese University Presidency issued the following statement:
In response to the campaign launched by a group alleging to be keen on the reputation of the University and the level of its degrees, and the rumor widespread that the European Union has ceased to recognize the university degrees granted by the Lebanese University, and following the confusion and concerns propagating among the students and their parents, the University administration published a statement condemning the rumors and delayed the publication of the European Union correspondence, which was soon sent confirming the statement.
In this regards, the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon published an explanation on its website (eeas.europa.eu), stating the following: “The Lebanese University, the largest higher education institution in Lebanon, is a key partner for the European Union in its effort to support excellence in the higher education system. Media reports alleging that the European Union has ceased to recognize the university degrees granted by the Lebanese University are unfounded and do not relate in any way to any action taken by the European Union institutions in this regard.” Therefore, the Lebanese University calls to dismiss the tendentious and destructive rumors and allegations and to always seek the truth from its official sources.
