Since June 2002, Lebanon has become one of nine Mediterranean countries covered by Tempus, the inter-university cooperation programme set up by the European Commission to help in the reform and development process in the sector of higher education.
Tempus provides higher education institutions with real opportunities to tackle these problems through a cooperation scheme involving partners from the European Union.

The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management was joining the JEP (Joint European Project) since 2004. This project is the main core of Tempus activities with the following areas of interest:
- Curriculum Development
- University Management
- Training Courses for "Institution Building"

* Duration of the project: 3 Years (2005 - 2008).

TEMPUS aims to:
1. Emphasize the importance of higher education sector in the social and development process in partners countries.
2. Encourage different higher education institutions to work together in an atmosphere of cooperation and exchange of know how and expertise.
3. Help in the reinforcement of the platform for dialogue between cultures.
4. Participate in creating programmes for training and upgrading of skills.
