Specialization
-
The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the Lebanese University grants the degree
"Diploma of Agricultural Engineering" after five years of study , with a major in 5
different fields:
-
Regulations
-
The Diploma of Agricultural consists of five years of studies in addition to a thesis as a
result of research work for a period of one year.
The first two years of study consist of basic sciences. The next two years consist of courses
directly related to agricultural sciences.
The fifth year consists of specialized courses in the one of the five fields of study
mentioned above, in addition to a research topic which a student chooses with the
consent of a faculty member as a supervisor. By the end of this year, the student must
submit a thesis, which is the result of research work, to a committee of at least 3 people
nominated by the administration.
-
The academic year consists of 2 semesters. In each semester there is a partial exam
which is considered 30% of the total grades and a final exam at the end of semester
which is considered 70%.
-
The passing grade for a course is 60%. The student must obtain a general average of
60% for the year and must not fail in more than 3 courses in order to be promoted to
the next academic year. A student is not allowed to repeat the same academic year
more than once.
-
The courses are offered in either English or French depending on the professor.
Obligatory courses in the English and French languages are given during the first
two years to make up for any language deficiency.
-
The courses are offered both mornings and afternoons.
Attendance is obligatory. A student will not be allowed to take the final exam if he
is absent for more than 20% of the theoretical course hours without submitting a
medical report or a convincing written excuse. All laboratory sessions must be
attended.
-
The curriculum includes field training and visits to private professional farms. This
will take place mostly during the spring semester. Special field trips are arranged
upon request by the professor in charge of the course.
-
