The FFAA participates in a seminar on “Beirut Port”
The Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture, represented by Dr. Raed Jouni, Chair of the Department of Urban Planning in the faculty’s deanship, participated in a seminar on Beirut Port organized by the Port’s Board of Directors under the title “The Development of the Port and Its Relationship with the City.”
The seminar was attended by a delegation from the World Bank and port management consultants specializing in planning and development, as well as representatives from AUB and the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA).
During the seminar, Dr. Jouni presented the department’s vision for the port’s development, addressing the challenges of integrating it with its urban surroundings and the proposed strategic role that the Port of Beirut should play at the national and regional levels.
It is worth noting that the Department of Urban Planning had prepared a prospective study on this topic during the academic year 2020–2021, and this planning work was followed up with the development of a strategic development plan for downtown Beirut, the port, and their surrounding areas during the academic year 2021–2022.
