This International Scientific Conference is organised within the framework of a Tempus-Meda Joint European Project (JEP-31084-2003), approved and supported by the Directorate-General for Education & Culture of the European Commission and the European Training Foundation. The Conference is a thorough attempt to examine issues related to higher education in the fields of tourism, travel, transportation and hospitality and their relation to present and future challenges. It aims to bring together educators, academic leaders, policy makers and practitioners, to exchange and discuss ideas and research, and to enhance cooperation initiatives in tourism studies and research. Particular emphasis is on bringing together academics and practitioners from the Eastern Mediterranean area and from the rest of Europe.

Conference Topics

Academic papers and keynote presentations will cover the widest spectrum of issues related to higher education in tourism, travel, transportation and hospitality, including but not limited to the following topic categories:

 

Submission of Papers

Submitted papers should will be relevant with the objectives and/or the thematic topics of the conference, will be written in English, and will be submitted in time (see bellow for “important dates”). All contributions must be original (i.e. not been published elsewhere), follow academic writing, structure and methodology. Submissions will be refereed by anonymous reviewers - the comments of the reviewers will be communicated anonymously to the authors.  

Authors are invited to submit full papers of 3000 to 5000 words (plus references/bibliography and tables or charts/figures). The first page of the paper must include the paper’s title, author’s name and titles, institution, address, phone and fax numbers and e-mail address. The second page of the paper must include again the proposed paper’s title and the text (but not the author’s name, contact details and affiliation). All submitted papers should conform to detailed paper specifications and guidelines (click here for more details).

All full papers should be submitted electronically, as Word97 or higher attachments, and should be e-mailed  at khammad@ul.edu.lb

Evaluation of full papers and notification of acceptance**:        15/02/2008

Submission of revised papers (final papers):                              17/02/2008

** The scientific committee reserves the right to reject papers that are not scientifically sound or are not in line with the submission specifications/guidelines. Only papers presented at the conference will be included in the conference proceedings - at least one author must register for and present the paper during the conference.

Registration is free of charge for all delegates presenting a paper, and includes participation in all conference sessions, refreshment & coffee breaks, dinner, conference pack/bag and a copy of conference proceedings.
